Methodology

WatchGuide is an independent German film & series review community, online since 2022, with 1,600+ reviews. Each review carries a single editorial 0–10 “Watcher score”. We matched those titles to their TMDB audience score (a global, audience-driven 0–10 average) via TMDB ID.

Sample

821 titles that have both a WatchGuide editorial score and at least 500 TMDB audience votes (to keep the audience side statistically meaningful). The “gap” is simply WatchGuide score minus TMDB audience score. Genre buckets use our site categories (≥15 titles each); decade buckets use the original release year.
